Analysis and proposal on TM information available for foreigners in Bogotá

The present project contains the analysis of the information published into the stations about the mass transport system in Bogota named Transmilenio, in order to identify an option which make easy for foreign visitors move in the city through it, and to propose an English informative media about how TM works. The importance of information in this second language, due to the continuous growth of international arrivals to El Dorado, which has as a consequence many foreign tourists who do not speak Spanish and are interested in know the local culture and representatives places. Getting into the subject, the principal subjects which support this research are: in first instance communication and signs, because is quite important to hand over a trusted source through an assertive message, using in the right way the signals; as the second one is the tourism, to identify the update situation of this field in the city; it is followed by strategies taken by Colombian government based on C.E.F. (Common European Framework), all of them focused in improve the level of English in Colombian people; and as the last are the precedents about how handle the information in different transport system around the world. Then, with the intention of obtain an info’s source in field, it was taken the qualitative research with descriptive method and it were used two analytic instruments: the survey, that helped to recognize which was the appropriate information about TM for tourists and their opinion about the system; the second was the observation to recognize the published into the stations and to categorize the recollected data.

Analysis of cultural influence and context in the translation of literary texts

The aim of this work is to identify the cultural aspects that are involved in the translation process and identify the techniques used by translators beyond the theory in the translation of literary texts, take to account the culture and context elements that are behind the environment of the writers. Besides, this writing includes, apart from theories, the ideas of Modern Languages Students and the experience from a professional translator that allows to understand the real field of interpreting texts from a source language to a target language. Firstly, it exposes the objective of the research, and it is supported by results with other similar works and, of course, with theories from significant authors. Secondly, through a questionnaire, an interview and some observation forms, important conclusions about translation techniques, culture and context are found and they are described in a useful way, in order to understand the importance to know the techniques classification, the culture, the context, and grammatical and semantical knowledge when a translation is about to start.

En el presente proyecto de desarrollo se registró el estudio que se llevó a cabo para la implementación de una revista de enfermería para la universidad ECCI, donde se documentó las investigaciones, estudios, análisis de los requisitos, parámetros para el desarrollo de un medio de divulgación, viabilidad de la creación de una revista , con el fin de establecer las razones y los beneficios que tiene la creación de una revista de enfermería; este trabajo se enmarca la línea de educación en enfermería la cual busca promover el mejoramiento , la innovación de modelos educativos y la calidad en la formación del recurso humano profesional

Assertive communication of foreign English speaking about the colombianism and popular idioms of Bogota.

Bogotá is known for being the most cosmopolitan capital, so that daily attracts a significant number of people not only in Latin America but in other countries, attracted by different reasons as its cultural and historical wealth, they come to city looking for new opportunities to work, study, fun and life Also, considering the importance of English as a language to business and cultural exchanges, the foreign population comes to city using this language primarily, from the US, UK, Australia or other places where speak English as a second language in the case of Japan, China, Germany, etc. Thus, the city has become a land of contrasts, among which are a large number of dialects, idioms and colloquialisms, like the product of a linguistic mix of different immigrant cultures in the country through the years.

Bogota culture for foreign language exchange

A lot of time after the investigation about the perception from foreign people about our country, is important not leave behind the great help that this project would give to a great projection. Clearly is a strong point to know that foreigners enjoy the culture that day by day live while they study our idiom in the capital of our country. Therefore, once we worked in project like that, where found out the perception of foreigners that live in Bogota, we can approach a proposal that helps and gives a new way of language exchange, where foreigners find a different way to learn Spanish and people who study another idiom have a comfortable way to practice it.

Contributions of students of the modern language program to the group of protection to the tourism and national heritage Mebog

According to the nature of the National Police and taking as a basis the right to enjoyment of free time through tourism in secure environments, the General Law of Tourism "Law 300 of 1996", creates the Tourist Police, within the Directorate of Specialized Services of the National Police. Hierarchically the Tourist Police depends on the National Police and administratively depends on the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism. In this sense, Decree No. 4222 of November 23, 2006 "By which the structure of the Ministry of National Defense is partially modified" establishes in article 9 the functions of the Directorate of Protection and Special Services, giving it competence to guide and establish the necessary guidelines for the fulfillment of protection services for people, for the environment and natural resources, for children and adolescents, for tourists and for the archaeological, cultural and religious heritage of the nation.

Creación de un programa radial bilingüe en la radio online ECCI

Este trabajo documenta la investigación que se elaboró para la creación y posterior ejecución de un programa radial bilingüe, dentro de la radio Online ECCI. Como primer aspecto que se tuvo en cuenta, fue nuestra experiencia académica en el ciclo técnico profesional de Lenguas Modernas para plantear la necesidad que tenemos los estudiantes por la apertura de espacios dinámicos para practicar el idioma inglés de lo que surge el planteamiento del problema; en este proceso se toma como referencia la teoría del comunicador Mario Kaplún para guiar nuestro estudio y así evaluar las posibilidades para la creación de dicho programa y de esta forma dar solución al mismo fijando unos objetivos.

Creación de una página web informativa para dar a conocer intercambios culturales en el programa de lenguas modernas de la universidad ECCI

Actualmente los idiomas se constituyen en un factor primordial para la sociedad, ya que esto conlleva al desarrollo personal y profesional de las personas. Hoy en día el intercambio cultural es más reconocido, debido al interés que surge a partir de la búsqueda de información respecto a agencias que ofrezcan este servicio. El propósito del intercambio cultural es poder viajar a otro país, vivir durante un tiempo determinado y de esta manera obtener conocimientos acerca de sus costumbres, su alimentación, sus creencias, su idioma, entre otros. La idea de crear una página web informativa nace de lo anteriormente mencionado, debido a que los estudiantes del programa de Lenguas Modernas no cuentan con una plataforma virtual que les brinde información verídica y confiable de este tema. Además, la Oficina de Relaciones Institucionales e Interinstitucionales ORII de la Universidad ECCI, solo ofrece intercambios académicos. La metodología que se implementó durante el desarrollo del proyecto tuvo un enfoque cualitativo y un método de investigación descriptivo, por esta razón, utilizamos la encuesta y la entrevista como tipos de recolección de datos, donde estas se aplicaron a algunos estudiantes del programa de Lenguas Modernas de la Universidad ECCI. En conclusión y como autoras del proyecto, fue satisfactorio trabajar en esta propuesta, ya que hubo una aceptación positiva por parte de la comunidad estudiantil.

Hotel de la Opera was born from the restoration and joining of two distinguished and renowned houses next to El Teatro Colón, built during the 19th and 20th centuries. The hotel offers a warm, quiet and unique atmosphere, with generous areas and balconies that look over the cobblestone streets, an unforgettable memory of your stay in the capital city of Colombia. This has two places to eat, La Scala and El Mirador which offer a select combination of Mediterranean, International and local dishes in the Bogotá tradition. In this case, the investigation focuses on the customers and staff members from the Hotel restaurants.

Design of a guide for english-speaking foreigners who visit Bogota

In Colombia, foreigners come to different places well known for its beauty, culture and the characteristic idiosyncrasy of local people. These destinations are presented in many world guides for tourist who visit Colombia and specifically Bogota, however it becomes tricky to find a place just for enjoying the night or meet people with similar likes after a visit to the city's iconic places. For those reasons it is necessary to locate diverse and sometimes hidden places to show variety to the visitors or even a totally new experience. The goal is to identify those places and compile them in a guide for English speaking foreigners who visit Bogota, especially those who come for the first time. In this research it is included information detailing the step by step of the process followed in the pursuit of this goal. The Statement of the Problem organizes the investigation idea and defines what to do, the Background to have a clearer picture on what is to be done and what to be achieve. The research is justified in its social relevance and it will show the usefulness of an alternative guide of Bogota for foreigners. The theoretical framework shows a retrospective on the concepts and theories that are relevant to the research to develop. The methodology exposes the target population, the sample, the technique and the instruments used. The general objective describes what the aim of this work is. The information of the research and the results can be found in the chapters Data Analysis and Conclusions, the scope that may have the guide and the goals to be achieved are exposed in the Projections

A digital literary magazine to develop the critical thinking of students from modern languages program at universidad ECCI in a multilingual context

Within the arrival of the new worldwide context, literature has been one of the most useful tools in order to communicate with people. Also, to express the different ideals and thoughts of the different writers overseas. Most of them were writers in magazines and this one, being part of the human progress and being one of the first literary entertainments allowed the improvement of writing and reading. Along with the advancement of technology they permitted to the magazines being part of the digital world and being accessible to everyone. The purpose of this Digital Literary Magazine is to foster the features of critical thinking, reading and writing in the students and professors of Universidad ECCI and to show the different types of handwritten art and the skills that can being improved.

Este trabajo se enmarca dentro de la investigación descriptiva a través de la indagación de la percepción de los estudiantes frente a su capacidad comunicativa ante un episodio hipotético de interacción mediante el uso del idioma inglés, de la misma forma la exploración de la posibilidad de impulso al proceso de aprendizaje del idioma inglés de los estudiantes de Lenguas Modernas de la Escuela Colombiana de Carreras Industriales por medio de los ambientes de aprendizaje y de la medición de los datos recopilados a través de encuestas realizadas a sujetos pertenecientes a la población de estudio, al igual que el análisis de entrevistas realizadas a los mismos.

The following thesis analyze the feasibility of a specialization at ECCI (Escuela Colombiana de Carreras Industriales) University, which is mainly focused in Translation, in order to do it, information is provided about the different types of programs on Translation offered at national and international level, from there, it pays particular attention to the gathered information regarding the possibility of a specialization based exclusively on English-Spanish, Spanish-English Translation, it would highlight and increase the acquired skills in Modern Language Program, observing the strengths and weaknesses of it, while it would offer new perspectives on them; then it describes how this possible specialization would enhance and connect Modern Languages Program with Specialization in Translation.

El intercambio académico como método de desarrollo profesional para universitarios

Academic exchange is one of the leading references on the processes and strategies of educational cooperation and, in addition to being direct expression of the collaboration between institutions and governmental structures, is also an important element of the set of educational policies in the field of internationalization of higher education and collaboration in the field of development. In this project there is a brief analytical approach to the positive and negative aspects that can have an impact both on the internationalization of higher education, such as regional integration and cooperation in general educational, highlighting the role that higher education institutions and national and international organizations play in promoting collaboration agreements that have as their ultimate goal the strengthening of what might be called further education. At the same time, is highlighted the importance of international student mobility or academic exchange as a development method for college as well as being a key to improving the training element, the exchange of knowledge and culture that allow for the solution for some problems of the citizens of the participating countries.

The need to manage a foreign language in order to generate economic, social and cultural development in our country

There is a concern about the economic situation of our country, the low rates of employment and the need for a comprehensive education that is based on the development of thought and the pursuit of knowledge in the community. Given these concerns, this thesis proposes to show the impact that brings a foreign language as a factor that can be a catalyst and promoter of economic, social, cultural development. However, this conception a little complex, are rooted variety of contexts-cultural, social, and economic, to be able to finally answer the question based on the need and the impact that leads managing a second language in these aspects. As technology and the economy going forward, the need to learn another language becomes vital; therefore, it can be argued that it is a matter of lack of resources, such as the time and financial investment, the reasons for which the user will be able to decide about the necessity of learning a second language or not.

A proposal to enhance job offers to Modern Languages students was an idea that was born back on 2012 during our first cycle at ECCI University; the idea was growing up and developing during our years of studies, thanks to conversations with students and businessmen besides with our job experience. We used descriptive research, to identify characteristics of the population (students and degrees) and situation (job offer). Through this job we went deep into opinions, expectations and facts in order to suggest ways to enhance job offers for students and degrees of Modern Languages from ECCI University.
