Adaptation of Afro Colombian students to an intercultural context in universities in Bogotá

From color of skin and ways of speaking to interculturality backgrounds, minorities as Colombian afro descendants are still suffering because of discriminatory issues, especially in universities in Bogotá, where higher education is addressed towards globalization. These types of violations affect the development of Colombian afros in the education arena, they sometimes experience isolation and episodes of discrimination in the study hall, promoting social inequity and injustice. In this context, afro descendants need to include the adaptation to the social requirements present in the capital city in order to achieve individual projects. Nevertheless, society manifest acts of discrimination in the lecture room, and in different spheres of human relations and interactions affecting the processes for proper advance in the generation of elements for successful communication. Yet, afro students adapt to academic atmospheres by integrating and assuming roles proper of that environment.

Countries protect the own language before an intercultural world

The globalization is one the greatest topics nowadays when speaking about coexistence, but although this evolutionary process just look for generate progress around the world, some societies prefer to keep their knowledge and legacy zealously because of stereotypes against other cultures. The result of this attitude in face on the world-evolution is a delay in the inter-communal recognition process, sometimes the exclusion of important data that is lost. A prior ambition for societies should be to get great intercultural competences; in other words, skills to ease the communication with people from other places, but this are not taken into account. This literature review made a structured discussion of authors with their different concepts about: culture, interculturality, intercultural competences and stereotypes; with these definitions the text produced its own interpretation of the same topics.

The impact of stereotypes in companies

In this literature review a theoretical discussion is made as proposal for degree. in which are discussed the opinions of different authors with our own opinions on the topic to research; being a literature review “consists of search, select and consult the literature that may be useful for the study. This the relevant and necessary information related to the research problem be selected” (Gutierrez & Maz, n.d, p. 2). The research topic is how stereotypes are developed within society and how they can specifically affect within a company. In addition, a search is done to establish as first stay which is the origin of stereotypes, the functions that they have and the different approaches that can be found, along with this as stereotypes can prejudice and discrimination one perspective, also addressing the point of view of different authors and the proper on the different topics that are present. With this in mind, promptly sets the negative effects that stereotypes cause in the development of a company such as productive recession and the labor decline of the company.

Importance of values within the intercultural communicative competence (ICC)

This document analyses and studies the relation between the importance of ethical values and the application of them, by referring to them as essential elements into the cultural diversity, and also taking into account that within intercultural communicative competence exist several skills. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to show how values affects the cultural exchange in different sociocultural issues. It is relevant to mention some basics concepts as a culture, interculturality and stereotypes to make sense through the whole text. The main topic and the related ideas will be based on referenced studies from several authors to support the bigger concepts and link the theories to those concepts, then showing the importance to introduce, manage and apply the values through interculturality.

Technological breakthroughs impact within the cultural communicative process in regard to social media

Technological advances represent a fundamental change in the new millennium; besides, these advances has generated a great development in everything that daily works inside the world. One key change is based on the way people communicate by using technology tools; the increasingly common use puts the communication model in constant changing starting to separate each variable as a unit. At the same time intercultural, interaction and adaptation play an important role in the communication process by the use of technological advances; consequently these factors lead to increased effectiveness in measuring the success of communication.
