Bearing in mind that these stereotypes appear in the text across aspects like: the role and life of the Muslim woman, the Yihad as a concept involves in terms of religion and terrorism, the attacks of 9/11, the representation of Hollywood of Arab/Muslims and the terrorist group ISIS. Once mentioned the stereotypes that affect the Arab/Muslim culture, the text tries to defend and debate the negative arguments around Arab world, taking into account the external perception (point of view of Occident) and the perception internal (interview realized to a practicing person of the Islam); showing that the lack of information and the exaggeration from the mass media, make that others believe in Arab/Muslim culture as an example of fanaticism and terrorism.Publicación Acceso abierto Gender roles stereotypes in the workplace(Universidad ECCI, 2016) Castellanos Ángel, Lorena Alexandra; Cruz Castellanos, Ricardo Javier; Vargas Gonzáles, Jorge YezidThis literary review explores the concepts of gender, sex, stereotype, and gender roles, applied to the workspace. It is important to make the distinction between the first two terms, as they are often confused among people. Besides, this paper is focused on how gender role stereotypes influence all the processes involved in the work areas: from applying to a job, to the opportunities to advance once a person is already working in a company. Given that women are the most affected by these kinds of stereotypes, it has been necessary to study -in a brief way-, some historical moments of women’s struggle to get to the same level as men in every possible aspect in the social context. In conclusion, this paper enabled the identification of gender roles stereotypes and their relevance in the work field in present days; as they lead to prejudices when meeting other people; and the division of professions into masculine and feminine these roles make, affects in a major way people’s job opportunities and career development.Publicación Acceso abierto The impact of stereotypes in companies(Universidad ECCI, 2016) Moreno Yepes, Jo Anne Eliana; Cruz Schell, Laura Milena; Vargas González, Jorge YezidIn this literature review a theoretical discussion is made as proposal for degree. in which are discussed the opinions of different authors with our own opinions on the topic to research; being a literature review “consists of search, select and consult the literature that may be useful for the study. This the relevant and necessary information related to the research problem be selected” (Gutierrez & Maz, n.d, p. 2). The research topic is how stereotypes are developed within society and how they can specifically affect within a company. In addition, a search is done to establish as first stay which is the origin of stereotypes, the functions that they have and the different approaches that can be found, along with this as stereotypes can prejudice and discrimination one perspective, also addressing the point of view of different authors and the proper on the different topics that are present. With this in mind, promptly sets the negative effects that stereotypes cause in the development of a company such as productive recession and the labor decline of the company.
