This research describes the disadvantages that represent not having a good command and the advantages of having a good command of English language in a graphic design company. We could identify language skills, communication tools and the most relevant cultural aspects necessary while doing business abroad; such as understanding changes of rules and standards use in other countries, the negotiation barriers using a second language and the best ways of communication worldwide as Email or video conferencing.

Bogotá is known for being the most cosmopolitan capital, so that daily attracts a significant number of people not only in Latin America but in other countries, attracted by different reasons as its cultural and historical wealth, they come to city looking for new opportunities to work, study, fun and life Also, considering the importance of English as a language to business and cultural exchanges, the foreign population comes to city using this language primarily, from the US, UK, Australia or other places where speak English as a second language in the case of Japan, China, Germany, etc. Thus, the city has become a land of contrasts, among which are a large number of dialects, idioms and colloquialisms, like the product of a linguistic mix of different immigrant cultures in the country through the years.

This thesis project expects to announce a business idea about a web page called GLOBAL INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS. In this document there will be demonstrated the viability that has the creation of a company focused in the technological services and learning of English, with an approach in the business and the business administration. There were approached the most important steps that must be take into account to create a company. Those are the most important: the summary of the business, the market study, the technical analysis, the investment study, and the financial study. In this document will be possible analyze how two students of Modern Languages of ECCI university could carry out a business plan based on the knowledge acquired during the career.

Design of a guide for english-speaking foreigners who visit Bogota

In Colombia, foreigners come to different places well known for its beauty, culture and the characteristic idiosyncrasy of local people. These destinations are presented in many world guides for tourist who visit Colombia and specifically Bogota, however it becomes tricky to find a place just for enjoying the night or meet people with similar likes after a visit to the city's iconic places. For those reasons it is necessary to locate diverse and sometimes hidden places to show variety to the visitors or even a totally new experience. The goal is to identify those places and compile them in a guide for English speaking foreigners who visit Bogota, especially those who come for the first time. In this research it is included information detailing the step by step of the process followed in the pursuit of this goal. The Statement of the Problem organizes the investigation idea and defines what to do, the Background to have a clearer picture on what is to be done and what to be achieve. The research is justified in its social relevance and it will show the usefulness of an alternative guide of Bogota for foreigners. The theoretical framework shows a retrospective on the concepts and theories that are relevant to the research to develop. The methodology exposes the target population, the sample, the technique and the instruments used. The general objective describes what the aim of this work is. The information of the research and the results can be found in the chapters Data Analysis and Conclusions, the scope that may have the guide and the goals to be achieved are exposed in the Projections

The inclusion and scope of new technologies for educational purposes enables the use of multimedia and didactic materials to promote learning, for which we determined the creation of a technological strategy that has resources to access content and practical exercises on the corresponding topics to the Simple Present Tense in English classes. This idea is carried out taking into account the low academic performance, evidenced in the results of the saber 11 tests; when students get into college. The tool allows the registration of teachers and students to maintain academic control, in addition to this, teachers can share information and practical exercises, without the need for an Internet connection, being an alternative that helps to develop the grammatical skills of teaching and learning English as a complement to face-to-face classes.

The following thesis analyze the feasibility of a specialization at ECCI (Escuela Colombiana de Carreras Industriales) University, which is mainly focused in Translation, in order to do it, information is provided about the different types of programs on Translation offered at national and international level, from there, it pays particular attention to the gathered information regarding the possibility of a specialization based exclusively on English-Spanish, Spanish-English Translation, it would highlight and increase the acquired skills in Modern Language Program, observing the strengths and weaknesses of it, while it would offer new perspectives on them; then it describes how this possible specialization would enhance and connect Modern Languages Program with Specialization in Translation.

The gap between public and private education according to the score obtained the English area for the ICFES Saber 11 tests over the last 10 years (2010-2020)

La discrepancia educativa entre las instituciones públicas y privadas ha representado una problemática para la formación integral de los países de Latinoamérica, especialmente en Colombia, debido a que la calidad se ve perjudicada a causa de la carencia de capacidades para la optimización de oportunidades académicas, sociales y laborales en zonas rurales y urbanas del territorio. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la desigualdad de la educación pública y privada, a través de los resultados de los puntajes obtenidos en el área de inglés de las pruebas ICFES Saber 11 de los últimos 10 años (2010-2020), con el propósito de observar los factores de influencia en la preparación y la presentación del examen, por lo cual se emplea el método de investigación mixta. Principalmente, se ejecuta la descripción de los conceptos de educación pública y privada y las pruebas ICFES; más adelante, se analizan los hallazgos encontrados; y, finalmente, se constituyen las diferencias entre los dos campos desde el enfoque académico, lo que permite establecer planes de mejora en el sistema educativo. A partir de los resultados obtenidos, se identifican las divergencias históricas entre los dos sectores formativos, con lo que se hace énfasis en las deficiencias de conectividad, las limitaciones del crecimiento profesional y el progreso institucional, de manera que se establecen las estrategias que podrían potenciar el nivel de desempeño de la lengua extranjera en zonas rurales o vulnerables.

Pedagogical accompaniment, research and analysis on the impact of extracurricular English class in a public school in Córdoba, Colombia

In this document, it will be possible to show an investigative project focused on teaching English to the youth of the municipality of Planeta Rica Córdoba, who will benefit from free English classes that will be taught by our professional pedagogues. On the other hand, in this paper, it would be possible to show the shortcomings that exist within the educational system in the area of English at the regional and departmental level in Colombia. This will be demonstrated in different results that young people from the department of Córdoba have obtained in the ICFES (Colombian Institute for the Education Evaluation) made in the region, which are below the standards of the National Ministry of Education (Ministerio de Educación Nacional). The investigators believe that the extracurricular classes are necessary for the students of this region. This is derived from the hypothesis that these classes will impact their English and, therefore, will help students improve their second language. We strongly think that these projects benefit the community, like the community this project is focusing on. The main function of the researchers within this project is making the administrative processes and that in this way the development of the classes is planned, organized, directed and implemented successfully by the teachers who will be in charge of the pedagogical part of the process. In this way is expected to achieve the objectives mainly proposed. Also, to carry out all this process it is necessary that there is organization and that everything is fully accomplished step by step and this requires being decisive to be able to achieve success. The research enabled a space where the young participants were benefited from one month of free English classes. This way, not only they, but the institution also has a participation in this benefit.

This research is about the perception of the community in front of the implementation of the webpage ARQ in technical English on the students of eleventh grade from day shift of the Laureano Gómez Castro school in the modality of architectural design, addressing issues such as learning, importance of English, ICT use, an how these tools help to develop student’s production skills. For this, we create a webpage in which the students can acquire vocabulary regarding architecture and exercises to improve their skills in a second language.

Quality education: the path to success critical discourse analysis of professional training on modern languages at ecci and its coherence with the objectives proposed by the “government of prosperity” in accordance with the national program of bilingualism.

Graduates of the Program Professional in Modern Languages from the Universidad ECCI expressed a slight dissatisfaction with the changes made to the curriculum during the course of their studies; as they feel that the preparation in English was not enough appropriate to enter to labor market with competitiveness. In order to respond to their concerns it was necessary to make a critical discourse analysis of the Government of Prosperity in relation to learn English in Colombia in accordance with the National Bilingual Program and compare it to the discourse of the ECCI from documentation on file in the Coordination of Modern Languages such that the common themes could be identified to further make clear the students' opinion about it, reflected in graduation projects at the technical curricula. Furthermore the results of English component on exams Saber Pro taken by students of the program were reviewed. Thus it became clear that changes in the program in recent years comply with the guidelines established by the Government and have resulted beneficial for students, since the results in the State Exam Saber Pro show a significant improvement compared with those presented by the first groups and evidence a better preparation of future professionals.
