Besides, this writing includes, apart from theories, the ideas of Modern Languages Students and the experience from a professional translator that allows to understand the real field of interpreting texts from a source language to a target language. Firstly, it exposes the objective of the research, and it is supported by results with other similar works and, of course, with theories from significant authors. Secondly, through a questionnaire, an interview and some observation forms, important conclusions about translation techniques, culture and context are found and they are described in a useful way, in order to understand the importance to know the techniques classification, the culture, the context, and grammatical and semantical knowledge when a translation is about to start.Publicación Acceso abierto Communicational and cultural competence in translation of the students of 6th semester in ECCI(Universidad ECCI, 2017) Álvarez Espitia, Ingrid Magaly; Guzmán Torres, Luis Guillermo; Barbosa Pérez, CindyThe translation is a field that has been studied and considered for a lot of scholars and linguists, wanting to stand out not only the importance of translating successfully a message to another dialect or language, but also showing the methods, techniques and effective ways of creating a translation from its beginning to its end, which is the moment when the recipient obtains the translated message. One of the competences that are important in the translation context, are the communicational and cultural competence, because in the translation, the meaning of the culture is too difficult to understand, therefore, the communicational and cultural competence must take part in this process to guarantee the effectiveness of the translation. The word “culture” has different meanings depending on the context in which is used. For that reason, is significant to define culture, according to Schwartz, S. H. (1992) ‘Culture consists of the derivatives of experience, more or less organized, learned or created by the individuals of a population, including those images or encodements and their interpretations (meanings) transmitted from past generations, from contemporaries, or formed by individuals themselves.’ Another definition of culture is “Language, as a part of the cultural core, is at the heart of culture. La idea se constituyó entre los tres realizadores de esta tesis, a través del proceso de formación académica del programa de pregrado de Lenguas Modernas en la Universidad ECCI, en la ciudad de Bogotá. Impulsados por la gran demanda de traducciones observada en la universidad y la relativa falta de oportunidades para los estudiantes recién egresados, se decidió idear un proyecto emprendedor en el cual, se pudiera probar todos los conocimientos profesionales, al idear un plan de negocios atractivo y rentable, que al mismo tiempo brindara oportunidades laborales a nuestros colegas lingüistas.
