Besides, this writing includes, apart from theories, the ideas of Modern Languages Students and the experience from a professional translator that allows to understand the real field of interpreting texts from a source language to a target language. Firstly, it exposes the objective of the research, and it is supported by results with other similar works and, of course, with theories from significant authors. Secondly, through a questionnaire, an interview and some observation forms, important conclusions about translation techniques, culture and context are found and they are described in a useful way, in order to understand the importance to know the techniques classification, the culture, the context, and grammatical and semantical knowledge when a translation is about to start.Publicación Acceso abierto The Arab/Muslim culture victim of western world; internal perceptions vs. external perceptions and the intercultural consequences of stereotyping.(Universidad ECCI, 2016) Gamba Monguí, Diana Marcela; Moreno Santana, Lorena Alejandra; Gonzáles Chaparro, Katherin Lisseth; Guzmán Arias, Ana MaríaThe text provides a comprehensive literature review regarding the main cultural stereotypes related to the Arab/ Muslim culture, and how these stereotypes affect the intercultural relations. Bearing in mind that these stereotypes appear in the text across aspects like: the role and life of the Muslim woman, the Yihad as a concept involves in terms of religion and terrorism, the attacks of 9/11, the representation of Hollywood of Arab/Muslims and the terrorist group ISIS. Once mentioned the stereotypes that affect the Arab/Muslim culture, the text tries to defend and debate the negative arguments around Arab world, taking into account the external perception (point of view of Occident) and the perception internal (interview realized to a practicing person of the Islam); showing that the lack of information and the exaggeration from the mass media, make that others believe in Arab/Muslim culture as an example of fanaticism and terrorism.Publicación Acceso abierto Children’s health under five years age inside the Wayuu community according to their culture(Universidad ECCI, 2016) Bahamón Molina, Ingrid Viviana; Betancourt Jiménez, Mónica Andrea; Cárdenas Granados, Elkin Steven; Guzmán Arias, Ana MaríaThe current paper addresses the issue of child malnutrition that affects de Wayuu community located in the north part of Colombia. The analysis here exposed, is focused on a specific population group: the early childhood, it means newborns to 5 years old children. This research starts with a light review of some cultural aspects from the Wayuu community that will help the person who analyzes this issue to understand from the indigenous vision that is the one that has fought this situation from the beginning. Then, this paper continues with a deep look into the actions that are being taken to face and resolve this national concern situation and the development and consequences of these ideas. The studies done reflected a high rate of malnourishment in the children. These range from, diarrhea, parasitic, severe infections of the digestive and respiratory system, among some other diseases. On the other hand, some research articles show how corruption has slowed down some efforts to help the Wayuu community. One of the competences that are important in the translation context, are the communicational and cultural competence, because in the translation, the meaning of the culture is too difficult to understand, therefore, the communicational and cultural competence must take part in this process to guarantee the effectiveness of the translation. The word “culture” has different meanings depending on the context in which is used. For that reason, is significant to define culture, according to Schwartz, S. H. (1992) ‘Culture consists of the derivatives of experience, more or less organized, learned or created by the individuals of a population, including those images or encodements and their interpretations (meanings) transmitted from past generations, from contemporaries, or formed by individuals themselves.’ Another definition of culture is “Language, as a part of the cultural core, is at the heart of culture. Hierarchically the Tourist Police depends on the National Police and administratively depends on the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism. The result of this attitude in face on the world-evolution is a delay in the inter-communal recognition process, sometimes the exclusion of important data that is lost. A prior ambition for societies should be to get great intercultural competences; in other words, skills to ease the communication with people from other places, but this are not taken into account. Rendre les gens plus compétitifs au travail et aux entreprises, ainsi que des professionnels hautement qualifiés qui répondent aux différents défis dans différents domaines sociaux, ce qui réduira les taux de chômage et de pauvreté du pays. The companies from Medellín are not external to the multiple benefits that internationalization can bring to them and to the city’s development since the city has been gradually working on the consolidation of its international relations as a local development engine, leaving behind the economic standard based on the industry in order to enter into the commercial services (Cortés, 2015). Due to that, some universities created language programs with the objective to train professionals that have proficiency in different languages, for example the ECCI University created the Modern Languages program as a response to the needs for internationalization that the companies in the city have. This research aims to identify the needs of fashion and tourism companies in Medellín regarding the hiring of bilingual and multilingual personnel that supports their internationalization processes. Through semi-structured interviews and data collection from 10 fashion and 10 tourism companies, the study delves into the needs of these two clusters, seeking to understand the role that a modern languages professional could play in the internationalization process in fashion and tourism companies, in order to know if the study plan offered by the ECCI University for the Modern Languages program really meets the companies’ needs for internationalization.Publicación Acceso abierto La relevancia del idioma y cultura extranjera en los negocios(Universidad ECCI, 2013) Bautista Barrios, Claudia Janneth; Murillo Barrera, Nataly; Badillo Carrillo, Héctor FabiánEl presente trabajo investigativo muestra la importancia del idioma inglés y la cultura extranjera para los negocios de acuerdo a un grupo de funcionarios de la empresa Kaeser Compresores de Colombia, empresa importadora y exportadora de compresores y sus partes, la cual tiene constante contacto no solo con su casa matriz en Alemania, también tiene contacto con otros países como Estados Unidos, Ecuador, Perú y Venezuela. En la primera parte se encontrará el porqué del desarrollo de este estudio, plasmado en la introducción, planteamiento del problema de investigación y la justificación. En la segunda parte el marco teórico referencia la teoría que se adoptó para este estudio del psicólogo estadounidense John Broadus Watson el conductismo, definiendo la teoría y los términos usados en el trabajo investigativo. En la tercera parte se mostrará al lector el diseño metodológico de la investigación en donde se muestra el tipo de investigación, el método de la investigación, lugar en donde se realizó el estudio, número y descripción de los participantes entrevistados y encuestados, instrumentos de recolección y proceso del análisis de los resultados. De esta manera se puede acceder a contenidos creados originalmente en un idioma diferente a la lengua materna. En las últimas décadas y con las plataformas de streaming en auge (Netflix, Prime Video, HBO, Claro video, entre otras) esta técnica se ha venido desarrollando cada vez más y ha variado durante los años, es por esto que el objetivo del presente análisis es investigar a fondo la traducción audiovisual y cómo es utilizada para realizar la subtitulación y doblaje de contenidos explícitos como el lenguaje tabú y sexual; dentro la teoría se estudiará la traducción audiovisual y el doblaje como subdisciplina de la traducción en cuanto al lenguaje tabú, que es aquel que tiene ciertas restricciones ya que puede considerarse inapropiado socialmente, esto también incluye el lenguaje sexual. Así mismo, se realizará un paralelo histórico acerca de la traducción audiovisual y el doblaje con el fin de mostrar cómo se ha incrementado este fenómeno y su importancia en la sociedad actual.Publicación Acceso abierto Un voyage entre les mots et la culture : Analyse d‟un corpus pour identifier les variations culturelles et linguistiques du vocabulaire du français de France et de l‟espagnol de Colombie dans le domaine du tourisme(Universidad ECCI, 2017) Córdoba Vargas, Marisela; Gallardo Moncada, Yibel Alejandra; Martínez Montaña, July Andrea; Martínez Segura, Leidy Tatiana; Serrano Carranza, Olga RocíoLe présent document est une analyse descriptive des différences linguistiques et culturelles de type anthropologique de la terminologie touristique, qui ont été obtenues par l'analyse d'un corpus comparable de la langue française de France et dans l‟espagnol de Colombie qui recueille textes écrits disponibles en ligne dans les deux langues afin de contribuer à la construction d'un dictionnaire culturel français - espagnol. La méthodologie utilisée dans la recherche était l'analyse de corpus, grâce à l‟analyse des fréquences, des concordances et des collocations, l‟étude comparative des échantillons de langue écrite en français et en espagnol a été possible, ce qui a permis de sélectionner et d‟examiner des variations linguistiques et culturelles d'un groupe de mots liés aux domaines du logement, du transport et des vacances.
