In the metalworking industry there are multiple high-risk tasks in which hygiene risks stand out, the challenge for preventive medicine at work is to create an epidemiological surveillance system sufficiently structured to control all risks and guarantee the health and safety of the worker . A company dedicated to the design and manufacture of steel tanks, has 30 operators who perform electric welding operations with a coated electrode and are exposed to hygienic risks due to the emission of gases and metallic fumes generated in this process, therefore the general objective of this project is to propose a chemical risk control system for the emission of gases and metallic fumes generated in welding operations, for the workers of the ARTECG SAS company, thus preventing the occurrence of occupational diseases. The initial phase is research where information is collected from similar projects and regulations on permissible emissions in Colombia and internationally, in order to know what progress there is on the subject and what can be applied in the development of the project. In a second part, a diagnosis of the company will be carried out to determine the real situation of the process. Here, tests are taken for the emissions of gases and metallic fumes polluting the work environment, the exposure of the workers is evaluated and the determines what is the factor to focus the studies. Finally, the possible solutions will be analyzed and the proposal will be elaborated, which establishes what the controls are at the source, medium or the individual to solve the contamination problem generated by the welding process.
