We could identify language skills, communication tools and the most relevant cultural aspects necessary while doing business abroad; such as understanding changes of rules and standards use in other countries, the negotiation barriers using a second language and the best ways of communication worldwide as Email or video conferencing.Publicación Acceso abierto Análisis de la producción oral de los fonemas /ʃ/, /tʃ/, /ɾ/, /ʈ/ y /θ/ en los estudiantes de la Universidad ECCI(2019) Velásquez Alvarado, Camila Andrea; Sánchez Castro, Viviana Andrea; Arciniegas, Franklin SegundoEn la presente investigación se analizó el punto y modo de articulación de cinco (5) fonemas específicos ubicados dentro de palabras y frases establecidas de manera estratégica, donde hispanohablantes, específicamente estudiantes, un profesor del programa de Lenguas Modernas de la Universidad ECCI y una persona nativa de habla inglesa realizaron el ejercicio de producción oral, con la intención de comparar la correcta pronunciación, tomando como principal referencia el AFI (Alfabeto Fonético Internacional), la pronunciación de una persona nativa de habla inglesa y el software Praat con la finalidad de reconocer, identificar y analizar cuáles son los principales fonemas que presentan dificultad en la producción oral de los mismos. De ese mismo modo, el proyecto consiste en una investigación descriptiva, en donde se detallan e identifican los errores presentes en los estudiantes de la Universidad ECCI al momento de pronunciar palabras y/o estructuras que contengan los fonemas sh /ʃ/, /ch /tʃ/, r /ɾ/, t /t/, th /θ/, para la recolección de datos se aplicaron dos (2) instrumentos, el primero es un cuestionario, que permite establecer una fuente adicional como técnica de investigación o referentes empíricos y la segunda una prueba específica de reconocimiento y producción de los fonemas, que es realizada por medio de grabaciones analizadas a través del software Praat, cuyas funciones principales se centran en analizar la frecuencia, duración e intensidad del sonido, ofreciendo la posibilidad de hacer espectrogramas, facilitando el análisis del sonido a estudiar y además permite descargar en formato de imagen lo cual permite la inclusión de la imagen en diferentes artículos tales como tesis, escritos, presentaciones, etc. Razón por la cual, se hizo uso del software Praat en el presente proyecto de investigación para evaluar, analizar y obtener toda la información acústica de los fonemas objeto de estudio con base en criterios fonéticos, fonológicos y prosódicos; por medio de las grabaciones se logró identificar cuáles son los principales fonemas que presentan mayor complejidad en su pronunciación, debido a que son fonemas inexistentes en el sistema fonético del español, pero sí existentes en la lengua inglesa o viceversa; al mismo tiempo, se identificaron los errores frecuentes que cometen los hispanoparlantes en la producción oral de los fonemas objeto de estudio; finalmente, se expusieron algunos consejos fonéticos para mejorar la pronunciación de la lengua inglesa en hispanohablantes.Publicación Acceso abierto Análisis de la viabilidad de un plan de mercadeo bilingüe en la panadería latina(Universidad ECCI, 2015) Linares Vanegas, Jessica Nathalie; Arciniegas Ovalle, Franklin SegundoComo dice el padre del marketing moderno, Philip Kotler: “La actual sociedad enfrenta un periodo de cambios provocados por la crisis económica, el cambio climático, y la evolución tecnológica. However, it is also true that these have been around for a long time, even before they were known medically and will be considered as mental disorders. This is evident in the novel The Portrait of Dorian Gray, which shows us different mental illnesses that affect the behavior and personality of each of the main characters.Publicación Acceso abierto Analysis about the Experiences and Perceptions expressed by Foreigners regarding the Kinesics Employed in Bogotá.(2017) Sarmiento Rodríguez, John Alejandro; Hincapié Bohórquez, Diego AlejandroThe aim of the present research evidences the importance that non-verbal communicative acts have on the daily life interactions, particularly in other cultures with no a tight relation or an evident disparity. For this reason, this is a qualitative research study, based on this assumption some foreigners were interviewed to expose their knowledge about the kinesic communication or body language, focusing this communicative kind in our context. In this mode, this research seeks to inspect about the way how gestures could influence in communicative interactions among foreigners who visit or live in a region which has a different culture and costumes. With the purpose of spreading the knowledge about the perception that the participants of this work can express about the perceptions about the influence of gestures in the understanding and emission of messages during any kind of communicative interaction. Thanks to the information collected through these interviews is possible to know more about possible scenarios, if anyone faces different cultural representations of communication in an immersion context. This study also pretends to seek convergence points while participants experience this communicative type in order to allow the readers to take references of what is stipulated in this study. Furthermore, the information gather in this study can help the readers to enhance their knowledge concerning the exchange of kinesic influences from one culture to another.Publicación Acceso abierto Analysis and proposal on TM information available for foreigners in Bogotá(Universidad ECCI, 2015) Sierra Méndez, Deisy Liliana; Díaz Chiquiza, Catalina; Murillo Barrera, Nataly; García Ardila, AlexisThe present project contains the analysis of the information published into the stations about the mass transport system in Bogota named Transmilenio, in order to identify an option which make easy for foreign visitors move in the city through it, and to propose an English informative media about how TM works. The importance of information in this second language, due to the continuous growth of international arrivals to El Dorado, which has as a consequence many foreign tourists who do not speak Spanish and are interested in know the local culture and representatives places. Getting into the subject, the principal subjects which support this research are: in first instance communication and signs, because is quite important to hand over a trusted source through an assertive message, using in the right way the signals; as the second one is the tourism, to identify the update situation of this field in the city; it is followed by strategies taken by Colombian government based on C.E.F. (Common European Framework), all of them focused in improve the level of English in Colombian people; and as the last are the precedents about how handle the information in different transport system around the world. Then, with the intention of obtain an info’s source in field, it was taken the qualitative research with descriptive method and it were used two analytic instruments: the survey, that helped to recognize which was the appropriate information about TM for tourists and their opinion about the system; the second was the observation to recognize the published into the stations and to categorize the recollected data.Publicación Acceso abierto Analysis of cultural influence and context in the translation of literary texts(Universidad ECCI, 2017) Bermúdez Balcero, Erika Lissett; Duarte Román, Juliana Carolina; Lara Moya, Francy Lorena; García Ardila, AlexisThe aim of this work is to identify the cultural aspects that are involved in the translation process and identify the techniques used by translators beyond the theory in the translation of literary texts, take to account the culture and context elements that are behind the environment of the writers. Besides, this writing includes, apart from theories, the ideas of Modern Languages Students and the experience from a professional translator that allows to understand the real field of interpreting texts from a source language to a target language. Firstly, it exposes the objective of the research, and it is supported by results with other similar works and, of course, with theories from significant authors. Secondly, through a questionnaire, an interview and some observation forms, important conclusions about translation techniques, culture and context are found and they are described in a useful way, in order to understand the importance to know the techniques classification, the culture, the context, and grammatical and semantical knowledge when a translation is about to start.Publicación Acceso abierto Analysis of lexical acquisition in foreign languages through video games(Universidad ECCI, 2017) Corredor Montoya, Alejandra; Dubois Bautista, Yheyson Steven; Arciniegas Ovalle, Franklin SegundoSoftwares as video games allow a virtual interaction with characters and environments which belong to the proper system, and these programs in turn need of an electronic device for its execution. Eguía argues (2012), video games promote a constructivist experience, which is defined as the foundation of an idea through students’ participation in didactical processes. Piaget Explains (1969) the process of knowledge is inherent in human reasoning, more specifically since childhood. The absorption of insight works from the first stages of children by means of experiences, which give them a meaning or a symbol to an action. For instance, take the hand of an adult express a way of conduction to the child. This philosophy of knowledge obtained by own experiences and discoveries is well-known as constructivism. Video games works as entertainment systems, but also could be a good instrument to develop different skills. As Sedeño interprets (2010), video games foment reflection and strategic thinking and these help to stimulate levels of mental agility.Publicación Acceso abierto Analysis of the adaptation and synchronization in the dubbing process of “The Proposal” movie(Universidad ECCI, 2021) Calderón Álzate, Angie Tatiana; Carreño Barón, Ana María; González Espitia, Karen Daniela; Pérez Rojas, NelsonEn la presente investigación se lleva a cabo el análisis de la película La Propuesta, la cual fue escogida por ser una comedia romántica; además, con algunos conocimientos previos se sabe que en el humor suele haber muchos cambios por el tema cultural. Debido a esto se puede analizar, describir y explicar algunas de las modificaciones semánticas que pueden ocurrir dentro del proceso de doblaje en las películas. Así mismo indagando en temas fundamentales que son motivos de cambios en los doblajes como movimiento labial, adaptación y sincronización. Lo anterior se descubrió gracias a una entrevista con un profesional en el área y algunos autores que escribieron artículos relacionados con este tema, dando como resultado la realización de esta investigación junto con el cumplimiento de los objetivos propuestos.Publicación Acceso abierto Analysis of the armies by Evelio Rosero: a view from the subjectivity of violence(Universidad ECCI, 2021) Silva Velandia, David Stiven; Carreño Brochero, María Sofía; Pérez Rojas, NelsonThis monograph aims to make an analysis of the novel The armies, by Evelio Rosero, a novel that tells the story of Ismael Pasos, an 80-year-old teacher who worked in the small towns of Colombia until he reached San José. There Ismael resides with his wife Otilia and he stands out not only for having taught to read and write to most of the people of the town, but in his old age he also becomes that distant spectator who narrates in a typified, normalized way, and almost natural, the violent events, the traumas and the culture of violence created by the conflicts between legal and illegal armed groups. In order to show the impact and some effects of the state abandonment that the novel exposes, it is intended to relate some violent events that occurred in Colombia with the situations that take place in San José. Likewise, in this work it will be found the concept of Empathic Unsettlement, a term proposed by the American professor and historian Dominick LaCapra (2001), as the literary resource that the writer used when deciding how to tell his novel. It should be emphasized that Rosero did not experience violence directly, however, he takes the necessary experience for the narrator from the information published in the different media. In addition, the implementation of strategies is carried out with the interest of providing an improvement plan to the aforementioned career. Résumé Cette monographie analyse l'objectif de formation et le profil professionnel de la carrière des Langues Modernes à l'université ECCI à travers une recherche qualitative descriptive, qui est développée à l'aide de deux instruments (Abaque de Régnier et l'interview) appliqués à aux étudiants du dernier semestre, qui sur la base de leur expérience permettent l'influence de l'interdisciplinarité sur le profil professionnel est évident. Its main focus was on analyzing the applicability of using non-structural English to a group of taxi drivers who frequently transported foreigners in Bogota city. Two major instruments of collecting data were designed and used: an interview for foreigners who live in Bogota and a survey for taxi drivers to elicit their opinions. The collected data were analyzed and allowed to create an analysis matrix that triangulated the information, taking into account the relevance of the results obtained it was suggested the use of an non-structural English as a communication tool between taxi drivers and foreigners and economic development. Furthermore this research yielded information about taxi driver's job, since often they are the first contact for foreigners who visit the city, besides it was evident the necessity to speak English to increase their income and provide better service that allows easy and assertive communication, qualifying the profession of taxi drivers in Bogota.Publicación Acceso abierto Armed conflict and its impact on bilingualism: a reflection for the departments of Antioquia and Chocó(Universidad ECCI, 2021) Virgüez Corzo, Diego Stiven; Hernández Morales, Olga CamilaLa intención de esta investigación es analizar la relación entre el conflicto armado y el desempeño de los estudiantes en el examen de inglés ICFES Saber 11 en los últimos 10 años. Para el análisis se observa a la población educativa rural perteneciente a los departamentos de Antioquia y Chocó, considerando su fuerte historial de violencia a manos de los grupos armados al margen de la ley. This industry is handled basically by the hotel sector which takes charge of the accommodation of people, whether for tourism or business purposes. Being a sector that generates a high profit index, there is a high demand of hotels that offer different services to compete with the others. Clearly is a strong point to know that foreigners enjoy the culture that day by day live while they study our idiom in the capital of our country. Therefore, once we worked in project like that, where found out the perception of foreigners that live in Bogota, we can approach a proposal that helps and gives a new way of language exchange, where foreigners find a different way to learn Spanish and people who study another idiom have a comfortable way to practice it.
